American Heritage Girls (AHG)

Julie Dendy is the troop coordinator for MVPC’s American Heritage Girls troop NV0410. This year, 24 young girls met here throughout the year.

American Heritage Girls’ vision is to be the premier national character development organization for young women which embraces Christian values and encourages family involvement.

We are troop NV0410 because our troop verse is 1 Peter 4:10.  “Each of you should use whatever gifts you have received to serve others, as faithful steards of God’s grace in its various forms.”  This is in line with the mission of AHG—”Building women of integrity through service to God, family, community, and country.”

Service is a very important part of our troop’s activities—as well as having fun, learning new skills, earning badges, and meeting new friends, all in the name of Jesus!

When our troop reconvenes in September, one of the first things we do is celebrate AHG’s birthday by giving back to the community through acts of service.  The third Saturday of September is called National Day of Service and is celebrated by hundreds of troops nationwide.

This year, we are partnering with Eagle Quest of Nevada for the American Heritage Girls Duffle bag project Eagle Quest
serves at-risk youth and their families through Higher Level of Care Foster Homes and an array of services and programs to help these children and families reach new heights.

We will be packing duffle bags full of both necessary and fun items to provide for these children when they enter the Eagle Quest program.  Sometimes, these children will arrive in crisis with nothing at all.  These duffle bags will welcome them and provide a HUG of love to let them know—someone cares!

This year, 40% of our church’s Pentecost offering will be given to our troop to be used in the HUGS duffle bag program.  This will provide AHG with the resources to pack as many duffle bags as possible and help as many children as we can.  We thank you in advance for your generosity and support of this wonderful project!

American Heritage Girls troop NV0410 just wrapped up its second year of programming and first FULL year!  We had 24 girls participate in badge work, service projects, and other fun events learning new skills and making friends. We wrapped up the year with 9 girls receiving their level award at our badge ceremony and potluck celebration!

The troop continues to grow and we will start our next program year in September.  At this time, the troop is at capacity and registration is closed.

Thank you Mountain View Presbyterian Church for your generosity in chartering our group and supporting our ministry!
