“Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”  Matthew 11:29

Whether you are a young Christian just beginning the journey, or a weathered, mature Christian who is further down the path of life, or maybe you are somewhere in between, we can continually learn more about God, Jesus and The Holy Spirit.

In September, we are offering the Alpha  course, an 11-week study on the Christian faith.  Alpha started in 1977 in England and in 1991 a young pastor named Nicky Gumbel took over leading Alpha. It is now estimated that over 30 million people have done the course globally!   Here are some of the questions Alpha looks at and encourages discussion:

Is There More to Life Than This?
Why and How Should I Read the Bible?
Who is Jesus?
How Does God Guide Us?
Why Did Jesus Die?
Who is The Holy Spirit?
How Can I Have Faith?
How Can I Make the Most of the Rest of My Life?
Why and How Do I Pray?
How Can I Resist Evil?

Alpha is based on three key elements, food, a video talk and discussion.  We are looking for several homes to host groups of 8-10 people for a light meal, after which the video talk and discussion is held.  We will also have groups meeting at the church.

If you are interested in being an Alpha Host, please contact Tami Samek, Ministry Coordinator , call the church office at 702-341-7800 or stop by the Welcome Center and give her a big hug and say, “pick me, pick me to host Alpha.”
