Mission Activities

How can I be of service to others?

God has richly blessed our “Growing in Christ and Sharing His Light” congregation with time, talent, and treasures. Our Board of Deacons and our Mission Committee strive to provide us with varied opportunities to share these gifts with our less fortunate local, national, and global communities. In doing so, we have earned the PCUSA’s Five-for-Five designation by supporting PCUSA mission giving, Peacemaking Offering, Pentecost Offering, One Great Hour of Sharing, and Christmas Joy offering.

All age groups at MVPC are gratefully welcomed and encouraged to participate in our mission projects which take place throughout the year.

Grocery Certificates and Gift Cards

We are seeing some changes in the Grocery Program:

Smith’s. Smith’s is no longer giving the Church a discount on gift cards. Accordingly, we will no longer be ordering Smith’s gift cards. Instead, Smith’s will rebate to the Church a portion of your purchases through its Community Rewards program. Register your Smith’s Reward Card number (or phone number) at www.smithscommunityrewards.com. The Church’s registration number is 77810. After registration, every purchase at Smith’s earns money for the Church.

Albertsons. Purchase Albertsons gift cards, which are useable at all Albertson’s affiliated stores across the country (Acme, Jewel, Osco).

You can purchase Albertsons gift cards from Jeff Patterson between Sunday morning services or call Jeff at 228-3411.

Las Vegas Rescue Mission Blankets

Reach people in need with this very worthwhile project. Please donate 4-ply yarn, or, use yarn already donated by others to knit or crochet 7′ x 9″ sections that will be assembled into afghans for the homeless. For more info, contact Betty Lou Sippel.

Three Square Food Bank

The goal is to eliminate hunger in southern Nevada.  Several times a year, a work party from our church travels to Three Square to fill weekend backpacks for needy children in our county or to perform other chores.

Salvation Army Food Collection
On the first Sunday of each month, church Deacons collect non-perishable food items for the Salvation Army.
