Small Groups 2019

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland” (Isaiah 43:18-19)

Try a new thing in 2019… Grow in your Spiritual Life
Come and check out these small groups which will launch in January.

Dinner for Six (Koinonia)

Acts 2:46 “…They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts.” We are excited to share information about a new Fellowship ministry called “Dinner for Six.” Throughout the Bible we see the importance of eating or “breaking bread” together. Koinonia (“coy NO nyah / coin IN ee ah”) is a Greek word that occurs 20 times in the Bible. Koinonia’s primary meaning is “fellowship, sharing in common, communion.”
There is no agenda for “Dinner for Six”, but only a way to get to know one another. Information and sign-up sheet are in the Narthex. Couples, or singles, all are welcome!

For questions you can contact Tom Champley at champleys@aol.com.

Contemplative Prayer Discussion Group

Beginning Tuesday, January 22, at 10 am and 7 pm, the Rev. Paul Tomlinson will lead this Contemplative Prayer study based on the book Guarding the Heart by Michael Connell. The author, a trained and practicing spiritual director, often begins his prayer time with these words: “One with you Dear God, I am united with all creation in this sacred moment of prayer. I open my heart in faith to You and to Your infinite blessings.” Prayer is a time of opening our heart to our God. This group will explore a variety of contemplative prayer styles and encourage putting these prayers into practice during the week.

Reading the book is optional, but recommended.
