RightNow Media Family Lenten Studies

How can busy families observe Lent?

As parents who often struggle to find time for spiritual conversations with our children, what if we reclaim one family dinner per week to watch a four-minute video together and have a discussion over dinner?

RightNow Media, a vast Bible Study library of videos and discussions, youth group studies, and kids’ Sunday School lessons, is now available to all MVPC members and friends.

The Real God – Lenten Study Small Group

What we believe about God is the most important thing about us.  Yet, each of us has our own preconceptions, assumptions and notions about who God is.  Some of our ideas about God may be accurate – but others are distorted.  This is the driving force behind “The Real God” – to encourage adults, students and children to go directly to the source, taking a deeper look at how God reveals Himself to us in Scripture.  Join us as we launch an eight-week, church-wide Lenten study called “The Real God” on February 17th.   Pastor David will start us off each Sunday with a message focused on “The Real God” theme (see below) for that week.  Adult, Family, Student and Children programs are offered to continue the discussion throughout the week.
  • Week 1: Seeking God
  • Week 2: God’s Goodness
  • Week 3: God’s Sovereignty
  • Week 4: God’s Holiness
  • Week 5: God’s Wisdom
  •  Week 6: God’s Justice
  •  Week 7: God’s Love
  •  Week 8: God’s Faithfulness

Adults:  Small Groups begin Monday, Feb. 25th at Noon and 6:00 p.m. in the upstairs Esther Chapel.  Feel free to bring your own lunch or dinner.   Register today using the form below.  Study Guides are $8.00, and we have limited quantity of the book, “The Real God – How He Longs for You to See Him” by Chip Ingram, the book is $10.00.

Let’s discover the truth about God’s character together as we enter the season of Lent and prepare for Easter!

Contemplative Prayer Discussion Group

Beginning Tuesday, January 22, at 7 pm, the Rev. Paul Tomlinson will lead this 7-week Contemplative Prayer study based on the book Guarding the Heart by Michael Connell.  The author, a trained and practicing spiritual director, often begins his prayer time with these words:

“One with you Dear God, I am united with all creation in this sacred moment of prayer.  I open my heart in faith to You and to Your infinite blessings.”

Prayer is a time of opening our heart to our God.  This group will explore a variety of contemplative prayer styles and encourage putting these prayers into practice during the week.

Reading the book is optional but recommended.

Remember, the money earned at the bookstore goes to Christian Education to help support our children and youth programs.

Sunday School

Pre-K – 5th grade are invited to come up and join us for Sunday school each Sunday following Kids Konnection. This is a great opportunity for our young people to learn more about the Bible. If you have grandkids or friends, please invite them to church and Sunday school- we would love to have them visit.
