 Thursday’s Thoughts from Pastor David!

“The Future Is Calling

The Future Is Calling… and It Sounds Like Children Laughing

There are moments in the life of a church when we sense the Holy Spirit nudging us forward.

Not away from our rich history.
Not away from the saints who built this church with sacrifice, faith, and vision.

But forward.

Forward into a future where children run, families gather, friendships deepen, and the Gospel continues to flourish for generations yet to come.

At MVPC, we believe the time is now to make that pivot.

That’s why we are so excited about our upcoming “Comedy for a Cause” Live Auction Night on Friday, May 29th from 5:30–7:30 PM as we begin raising the first fruits for our “Let the Little Children Come Unto Me” Playground and Plaza Campaign.

This fun-filled evening will feature:
 Stand-Up Comedy
 Magic and Entertainment
 Live Auction Experiences and Trips
 Silent Auction Items
 Laughter, Joy, and Fellowship

Think of this evening as planting the first seeds.

In Scripture, the “first fruits” represented the first and best offering given back to God in gratitude and trust for what was still to come. That is exactly what this night represents for us — the joyful beginning of something bigger than ourselves.

We are not simply building a playground.
We are building a future.

A future where grandparents watch grandchildren play after worship.
A future where young families discover a church that welcomes all ages.
A future where laughter echoes across our campus and reminds us that faith is alive and growing.

Then, on Commitment Sunday — June 7th, during both worship services, we will invite our congregation to prayerfully make a one-year financial commitment to the “Let the Little Children Come Unto Me” Campaign.

These commitments may be fulfilled:
• Monthly
• Quarterly
• One-time gifts
• Or in whatever way works best for each donor and family

This is not about pressure.
This is about participation.

It is about prayerfully asking:

“Lord, what do You want to do through me to fulfill Your vision for MVPC?”

Church family… the future is bright.
Brighter than ever.

And together, with faith, courage, generosity, and yes… a little laughter… we will continue becoming a church for all generations.

See you Sunday for the celebration of Pentecost! (Don’t forget to Wear Red!)

Grace and peace,
Laugh Often and Fear Not!
David
