Thursday’s Thoughts – “You Give Them Something to Eat"
It was late. The people were hungry. The disciples were ready to call it a day.
“Send the crowd away,” they urged Jesus.
But Jesus, in classic Jesus fashion, turned the tables:
“You give them something to eat.”
Wait… what?
There were over 5,000 stomachs growling, and all they had were five loaves and two fish—basically a glorified lunchable. Yet in the hands of Jesus, it became an all-you-can-eat buffet with leftovers!
Here’s what grabs our attention this week:
Jesus doesn’t send the hungry away—He seats them.
Jesus isn’t in the business of dismissing people. He gathers them. Even in the wilderness. Even when it’s late. Even when the disciples have already mentally clocked out. The kingdom of God isn’t about scarcity—it’s about surprising, overflowing grace.
Jesus invites us to feed people—not just physically, but spiritually.
We may feel like our resources are limited. Time. Energy. Compassion. Hope. But Jesus doesn’t ask for what we don’t have—He blesses what we do. A kind word. A shared prayer. A meal. A moment. A second chance. Miracles begin when we place what we have in Jesus’ hands.
So let us ask:
Where is Jesus calling us to be the ones who “give them something to eat”?
Who is God seating at our table—hungry for food, for community, for belonging?
We don’t need to multiply the loaves ourselves. We just need to show up with what we’ve got—and trust Jesus to bless the rest.
And if you think your offering is small?
Remember, Jesus fed a multitude with a boy’s brown bag lunch.
Mic drop.
Grace and peace,
Laugh often and Fear not!
